What is SKYWARN?
SKYWARN is a volunteer program of trained weather spotters who help keep their communities safe by reporting severe weather to the National Weather Service.
During this training, you will learn to:
- Identify severe weather conditions including tornadoes, hail, and damaging winds
- Understand cloud formations and what they indicate
- Report weather observations effectively to the NWS
- Stay safe while observing severe weather
- Use proper reporting methods and terminology

Who Should Attend?
Amateur Radio Operators
Ham radio operators are valuable assets during severe weather, providing critical communications when other systems fail.
Emergency Responders
First responders, emergency managers, and public safety personnel benefit from understanding severe weather indicators.
Community Members
Anyone interested in weather and helping protect their community is welcome to attend and become a trained spotter!
